What are Yellow jacket?
The yellow jacket is a stinging insect the size of a bee that mostly feeds on proteins and sugars. It is a social wasp that often nests underground in vast colonies comprising the queen, drones, and workers. Nests can also be found in tree stumps, hollow logs, under eaves, within buildings, and in attics. Yellow jackets are most active in the spring and summer and die off in the winter. Each nest begins with a single queen and soon expands to up to 4,000 workers living in a basketball-sized nest or bigger.

Most of them look like black with yellow, brown or white markings.

Painful Stings
