Cockroaches

What are Cockroaches?

Cockroaches have been around for almost 320 million years, making them probably the oldest insect on Earth. Because they lack particular adaptations like sucking mouthparts (like aphids or cicadas), cockroaches are generalist insects. There are around 4,600 different cockroach species, and just 30 of them are known to coexist with people. Only four or five of those are the widely known pests that the majority of us have encountered, according to cockroach exterminators. The Asian subcontinent is the most typical location for the American, German, Asian, Brown-banded, and Oriental cockroaches.

Types of Cockroaches

According to a recent consensus among entomologists, there are between 1.5 and 2.5 trillion people on Earth.

Risks Associated with Cockroaches

Food Contamination

Cockroaches are attracted to food sources and can often taint them with E. coli and Salmonella.

Breed Quickly

Cockroaches live in close contact with one another and might reproduce at a fast pace. A small problem may quickly become a full-blown infestation.

Trigger Allergies and Asthma

The debris created by cast-off cockroach skins, dead bodies, and droppings can aggravate allergies, especially in children and sensitive individuals.

Resistant to Insecticides

Cockroaches are extremely adaptable and may even be resistant to some home roach extermination methods.
